Richard L. Carter age 85 of Griffith, passed away on Thursday August 18, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 60 1/2 years Linda; son Wendell (Kathy) Carter; grandchildren Sam Carter and Manon Carter; brother Ralph (Joyce) Carter, and by his numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Flossie Mae Carter; brothers Kenneth, Nick, Chick, Tom, Art, and by his sisters Ruth, Naomi, and Dee.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday August 22, 2016 from 2-6:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Ave. in Griffith. Burial will be private at Bethleham Cemetery in Eldon, Iowa.

Richard was a 26 year Navy veteran and member of the Fleet Reserve, American Legion,   and the VFW. He was also a former heavy equipment operator for REC in Bloomfield, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Griffith Senior Center.
