I spent the first 17 years of my life looking for a stranger, my father, since then, I’ve been slowly getting to know that “stranger,” as I am gradually becoming the better version he always wished id be. Sadly, my father passed away only a few days ago, yet his presence appears in everyone he has had the pleasure to be around as well, I see my father in almost everything I say and in my actions. Once again, I have cause to connect the dots in my life and reminisce about how my relationship with my father has cast such a wide shadow over my life. I am the 2nd child he has and there is gap of 2 years between my eldest sister an me. My memories of my dad are very different from the memories of my sister. However it is the same caring and loving man im mournig. I thought I would share with you a letter that I wrote to my father, he wont be able to read which is why im writing today, containing important life lessons I learned from him.
Father,
There are so many things I’d like to tell you face to face. I either lack the words or fail to find the time or place. But in this special letter, Dad, you’ll find the feelings that the passing years have left in my heart. Not a day goes by where I don’t feel your presence in my life, and ache at your absence. I see you in me when I look at the prominent veins in my hands, wrestle with my hair fading away or even catch a demension of our pronouced jaw line. When I was sorting through some of your things after your death, I found your hidden stash of random knifes, and all the keys you were collecting for that special lock. Father you found that lock in every person you touched heart. Including my family and myself. I’ll never forget the day I broke your heart. You and I know what that was. And father I apologize, there was a time I hated you and wanted nothing to do with you. Time has passed and wounds have healed I wanted to say that even thou you are an asshole I love you dad. Just wish we could have one more day together. You made my world a better place and, through the coming years, I’ll keep these precious memories as cherished souvenirs.

My prayers go out to the family.Al,Carl and I have been friends for so many years Al was a great guy he did anything for anyone no questions asked.He had the biggest heart in the world one of the best friends a person could ask for.He loved his family and would go far and beyond for them.He will be sadly missed by many including me the most.I'm gonna miss the 27 thousand calls a day from him. He is finally at peace with the love of his life.I will miss you dearly Al.My prayers to the family until we meet again,good-bye
