Whalen J. Arnold

Whalen J. “Billy” Arnold, age 70, of Gary, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, after a long hard battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. Left to survive his loving wife of 45 years Beverly; his two sons Whalen II (Nicole) and Nicholas (April); his four grandchildren: Aiden, Peyton, Lilly, and Evan; his siblings: Virgil (Susan) Arnold, Rebecca Spiltgerber, Mary (Paul) White, and Janice Arnold; sister-in-law Cathy (David) Sellers; two special nephews Jeffery (Jodie) and Kyle (Christy) Sellers; and dear friend Jennifer Halcarz

Billy was preceded by his parents Billie and Margaret Arnold; his sister Dorris Owensby and sister-in-law Linda Evans.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 7:00 PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana 46319 with Pastor Scot Turnbull officiating. Friends may meet with the family also on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM when service begins at White Funeral Home.

Papa thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren, passing out candy and snacks every time they walked through the door, even up to the end.

He worked for the Town of Griffith, Streets and Sanitation for 19 years and retired from Teamster Local 142 as a Dump Truck driver. He was an avid Nascar fan and will be missed by all.
