Vernon R. Wilson also known as “Vito” and “VW” was born on August 27, 1948, to Claudia and Booker T. Wilson (both preceded him in death). Vernon attended Booker T. Washington where he received his diploma. He was drafted into the United States Army where he served over seas. After his tour of duty, he returned to civilian life in Memphis, TN and got married to Lois Carter.
Vernon later moved to West Virginia and met Michele Hill and had 2 children Omari (Paco) Hill (preceded him in death) and Jermaine Hill. On December 5, 1985, he met and fell in love with Marsha Bradford. He was united in holy matrimony to Marsha on December 5, 1998. They shared a fondness of music and singing. He enjoyed cooking and making a mean chicken soup. He found comfort in listening to WDIA Radio in Memphis all the way up to his passing. He was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing his opinions on life, challenges he faced and overcame with those around him.
To this union, she brought his stepchildren: Joyce, Jerry (Danielle) and Monica, whom he loved dearly. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed they were to have him.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Vernon are his parents; sisters: Judy Hardman and Sharon Wilson; brothers: Booker T. Wilson and Charles Austin; his son Omari Hill and his best friend Robert Sangster.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Marsha, his son Jermaine, his stepchildren, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and his siblings Bill (Pop’s) and Mozenia. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his God daughter Chastity Adams, his lifelong friends Ben (Rosemary), Sonny, Gerald, Cassandra, and Nathaniel/Rasta Man.
