Obituary
Susan “Joy” Clarke, age 80, of Crown Point, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. She is survived by her children Beatrice Clarke and Lance (Heather) Clarke; grandchildren: Christine (Mike) Duffy, Jennifer (Kolt) Kemp, Melanie (Christian) Fry; and by her great grandchildren Lincoln and Gideon Duffy, and KJ Kemp.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents Phillip Mares and Elizabeth (Edmund) Laczi; brother Phillip Mares, and her granddaughter Taylor Clarke.
Per Joy’s wishes, there will be no services.
Joy was a retired bus driver for Crown Point Community Schools and a former partner of Allen and Clarke Enterprises in Crown Point, specializing in Horse Tack and Equipment. She was a member of the Navajo Saddle Club, and very involved in the 4H Ranchers Horse and Pony Club.
Joy was a lifelong horse lover and owner. Every summer, she would attend the Lake County Fair to watch all the equestrian shows. When her children were younger, Joy could always be found in the stands at many horse shows cheering them on while they competed.
