Ronald L. Cassoday

Ronald L. Cassoday, age 81, of Rensselaer (formerly of Griffith) passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 11, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Peggy; children: Mike Cassoday, Connie (John) Ogrodowski, Duane “Dewey” (Lori) Cassoday, Suzanne “Suzi” (Jeremy) Cassoday, Frank (Jaime) Milton Jr., Eric (Alaina) Milton, Tammy (Austin Shuee) Milton; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kathy Cassoday; brother Allen (Billie) Cassoday; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Winfield and Pauline; first wife Faye; son Timothy; grandson Michael Steven Cassoday II; brothers Walter, Wayne, and Dennis; and by his sister Sandra.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. Glen Park (45TH) Ave. Griffith, Indiana with Chaplain Steve Kovesci officiating.  Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at White Funeral Home. An IVFA Memorial will be held Friday Evening at 7:00 PM.

Ron was an Army Veteran. He retired from Union Local #150 as an operating engineer. He was a member of the Griffith Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years, retiring as the Battalion Chief. He was also a former Scout Master with Troop #531. Ron loved hunting, camping, and fishing on Bruce Lake in Kewanna, Indiana. He also loved his “tractors” and going to auctions.

His greatest joy was his family. He was a great father, a devoted husband, and a wonderful grandpa.
