Long time Highland, Indiana resident and Butterfingers’ business owner, Robert Haynes, age 66, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Rob attended the Culinary Institute of Hyde Park, New York. Following graduation, he worked as a pastry chef at The Blackhawk and University Club in Chicago, and Food Stuffs in Glencoe.
In 1984 he followed his dream by opening a dessert shop and delicatessen, known as Butterfingers, with store locations in Highland and Munster, and now in Crown Point.
Rob is proceeded in death by his father, Vernon Haynes, and brother, Joel Haynes. He is survived by his mother, Catherine (Leib) Haynes, siblings, Dan (Carrol) Haynes, Julianne (Dennis) Thain, Don (Peggy) Haynes, and Kevin Haynes, sister-in-law, Rhonda Haynes, numerous nieces and nephews, and longtime friend and business partner, Mike Lieberman.
Rob will be missed by his family as well as many dear friends and colleagues.
A memorial service will be held at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana 46319 on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
