Phyllis A. (Real) Frost

Phyllis A. Frost, age 77, of Highland, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024. She is survived by her children: Mary Nell (Kenn) Bates, Jason Omer Simpson, David Frost, Kathleen (Larry) Joslin. Kay (Joe Ojenek) Williams, Mary (Kevin) Jones; grandchildren: Caleb, Liz, David, Sarah, Les, Lorie, Lindsay, Robyn, Leon, Matthew, and Karli; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Philmer and Mary Grace Real; and her husbands: Joseph Simpson and Dan Frost.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana 46319. A Memorial Service will begin at 5:30 PM on Saturday with Rev Becky Sundquist officiating. Graveside Service will take place at 12 Noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, directly at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Hymera, Indiana.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Franklin College where she also toured with the Franklin College Concert Choir. She earned her Master’s at Indiana State University in 1968. She was a beloved elementary school teacher with the School Town of Highland. She also volunteered to jury the elementary science fairs for years following her retirement.

She is a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Highland, Indiana. She was an elder with the First Church of God in Munster, Indiana, where she also sang in the choir and played piano and organ. She was also an avid volunteer with the Griffith Historical Society, Women of the Church of God and United Steelworkers SOAR.
