Phyllis J. (Leach) Darnell

Phyllis J. Darnell, age 81, formerly of Griffith, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. She is survived by her children: Timothy (Melanie) Obermeyer, and Ruth (Paul) Maywald, stepchildren: Carla Jerred, Mary Darnell, Andrea Darnell, Tom (Becky) Darnell, Daniel (Karen) Darnell, and Theodore Darnell, grandchildren: Christine(Mike) Obermeyer, Paige (Justin) Smith, and Christian (Brooke) Radencich, Sara (Dakota) Langston, sister: Judith (late Robert) Alexander, numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Ruth Leach, and husband, Kenneth.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th Ave.) in Griffith.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10:00 am directly at Griffith Lutheran church, located at 1000 N. Broad St., Griffith, IN.

Phyllis was a graduate from J. Sterling Morton East High School in Berwyn, IL, class of 1962. She is retired from Calumet National Bank and Myakka Pines Golf Club in Englewood, FL. Her favorite activities included snow birding in Florida each year, and crafting.
