Although she became a single mom after four of her children were born, she was still able to put herself through college at Indiana University Northwest in Gary earning an Accounting Degree while holding a full-time job with the US Postal Service. Eventually, she started her own successful accounting business in Hammond, Indiana and after many years, moved the business to Griffith, Indiana, where she had her office for many decades.
Late in life she met the love of her life, Guy Wiman. For the next 27 wonderful married years, in addition to running her accounting business, they managed to visit most of the United States with their travel trailer. Pat and Guy also found time, especially after retirement, to visit destinations outside the US, including Europe, Canada, Mexico, and China. After her husband Guy passed away in 2011, she was still able to do some group travelling. Although the last few years were troubled by a series of medical issues, she was still able to enjoy the simple things in life, including family, friends, her Christian faith, and of course, her favorite TV programs Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
