Migdalia “Midge” Escamilla, age 77, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, in Munster, Indiana. She was born on June 29, 1948, in Caguas, Puerto Rico.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marisol Camilo; her cherished grandchildren, Jade Rodriguez, Jasmine Mata (Brandon Pollard), and Ramiro Escamilla; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Alice, Hugo, and Lucille. Migdalia is also survived by her brother Miguel (Claudia) Camilo.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Escamilla, as well as her Parents, Juan Camilo Sr. and Lydia Santiago Camilo, and other dear family members.
Midge worked at the East Chicago Police Station for 36 years (16 Years as a 911 Dispatcher and 20 years as Traffic Secretary)…..and never retired, true dedication!
Midge was a devoted mother who found her greatest joy in her family. She had a gentle spirit and a nurturing soul, always putting others before herself and offering comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her presence was a steady light – one that guided, reassured, and uplifted those around her.
She found peace and happiness in life’s simple beautiful moments. She loved crocheting, creating gifts with her hands that carried warmth far beyond the fabric itself. She also loved tending to her rose garden – her garden was not just a hobby, but a reflection of her spirit full of life, beauty, and gentle strength.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may meet with the family on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM at White Funeral Home (921 W. Glen Park Ave. Griffith, IN 46319).
