Michael S. Cassoday, age 67, of Gary, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024.
He is survived by his daughters: Karly (Jordon) Harper, and Chrisstie (Ed) Collins; grandchildren: Ryan (Dylan) Johnson, Kylie Collins, Cassidy Collins, Madison Collins, Addisyn Harper, Jayden Harper, and Paisley Harper, who is on her way; stepmother Peggy Cassoday; brothers: Duane “Dewey” (Lori) Cassoday, Duane (Nancy) Palubicki, Charles (Bobbie) Kay, Dan (Patti) Kay; sisters: Patty Kliest, Karen St. Louis, Connie (John Ogrodowski) Cassoday, Suzanne (Jeremy) Cassoday, Kathy Cassoday, and Peggy (Gerald) Ramsey.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Ron and Fay Cassoday, Richard and Suzanne Kay; son Michael Cassoday II; brother Timothy Cassoday; and sister Judy McMullen.
Michael was born in Little Falls, MN to Richard and Suzanne Kay. Michael proudly served our country as part of the Marine Corps. He retired from Teamsters Union Local 786. Mike “Cass” enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed playing pool and sitting around the table for a round of poker. He loved watching Nascar, and all car racing in general. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. He loved riding his motorcycle on the open road. Mike also loved riding his odyssey with his buddies. He enjoyed putting puzzles together in his spare time.
Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave. (45th Ave.) Griffith, IN with Pastor Brandon Rukes officiating. Inurnment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.
