Maria (Teneyuca) Tellez

Maria Tellez, age 89, of Gary, Indiana passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Franciscan Hospital Crown Point, Indiana. Maria was born on October 22, 1934, in Cortulla, Texas to the late Cruz and Anita Teneyuca. Surviving are her loving daughters Hujenia Bebe Tellez Allen of Merrillville, Indiana and Chelina Tenayuca of Chicago Heights, Illinois, who was raised by Maria’s mother, the late Anita Teneyuca; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way by Aminah! She is also survived by her best friends: Minnie of Chicago Heights, Illinois (over 62 years) and Deborah of Gary, Indiana (over 50 years); her Godchild Robyn Richardson of Atlanta, Georgia; her special cousin Gloria Maersk; and her very special brother-in-law Raymond “Tio” Tellez Sr.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; daughter Lisa; grandson Kenneth Walls; sons-in-law Lorenzo Allen and Vidal Tenayuca Jr.; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 3:00 PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM when service begins at White Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services.

Maria was a member of Holy Rosary Church for over 40 years.

Maria will be deeply missed by her loving family, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
