Manuel “Manny” Alvarado passed peacefully the morning of Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the age of 72, with the love of his family surrounding him.
Manuel was born in Michoacan Mexico in 1952 to Vicente and Juana. Manuel loved listening to Tejano music and there in 1981 at a Tejano dance he met the love of his life and best friend, Margarita Santana. He loved telling his story to others about how they met and said how he was going to marry her, love at first sight. They married in 1982.
Manuel retired from Accord Carton as a machine operator, Alsip, Illinois. Manuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Family always came first. He loved his Chicago White Sox and boxer, Canelo Alvarez. Fishing and bowling were his hobbies. He loved gardening and had a green thumb in growing his vegetables. He loved listening to Vincente Fernandez and at home events where Mariachi’s performed, he was not shy to get up and sing. He loved going to Tejano dances with his wife.
Manuel will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Margarita (nee Santana) Alvarado; children, Guadalupe (Laura Vasquez), Krystle (Enrique Rivera), Vincent; grandchildren, Monique (Diego Sanchez), Jorden, Julien, Jaylen, Alyana, Manuel, Aubrey; siblings Magdelana, Alicia (Sergio), Martin (Lupita), Jesse, Juanita (Jose Luis), Lourdes (Antonio); four legged companion and protector, Sparky, and numerous other family members and friends.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Vincente and Juana, and by his siblings Ignacio and Carmen.
The family would like to thank the Ibarra family, St. Catherine Hospital staff, and Community Hospital (CVU) staff.
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 4, 2024, at 10:30am DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Catholic Church located at 7113 Columbia Ave. in Hammond, Indiana with Fr. Jeffrey Burton celebrating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.
Friends may meet with the family on Sunday November 3, 2024, from 4:00-8;00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave. (45th Ave.) in Griffith.
