Lester Szo

Lester Szo age 85 of Valparaiso passed away on Saturday September 12th, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Pearl, children; Laszlo (Marguerite) Szo, Charles (Mary) Szo, Elizabeth (Michael) Stadnik, Susanna (Late James) Foster, grandchildren; Jason Szo, Eric (Adrienne) Stadnik, Emily (Joseph) Mroch (Szo), Alyssa (Andrew) Jorden (Szo), Sheila Szo, Kevin Szo, Melissa (Edward) Tropp (Stadnik) great-grandchildren; Tanner, McKenna, Addison, Hannah, Cambree, Aurora, Ava, Layla, soon to be AJ, brother Charles (Sandra) Szo, nephew and several nieces.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Elizabeth Szo, daughter Piroska, and brother Steve.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 17, 2020 at 12 NOON at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 525 N. Broad St., Griffith with Rev. Theodore Mens and Rev. Alphonse Skerl celebrating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.

Friends may meet with the family on Thursday September 17, 2020 from 10:30 AM to 12 NOON at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Due to the concerns of COVID-19, all those attending the funeral services, face masks are required and please practice safe social distancing.

Lester was retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Dolton, IL and was the former President of the Hungarian Citizens Club where he still served as an active member.

Lester loved all of his grandchildren first and foremost. He enjoyed camping, was an avid soccer fan, wrestling, boating, jet skiing, and attending the grandchildren’s sporting events.

Lester was very sociable, outgoing, and would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need.
