Kyra J. Slack

Kyra J. Slack, age 82, a longtime resident of Griffith, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, David, children; Robin (Don) Bowman, Tammi (Dan) Moster, Jennifer (Bill) Jones, and Cyndi (Johann) Richardson, grandchildren; Jillian, Tiffany (Jerelle), Amy, Nico, Jalyn, and Mya, great-grandchildren; Anthony, Paige, Damien, Livvie, Jordan, and Bella.

Kyra was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Anne York, and siblings Jean (Joe), Stephanie, Donald York, and Cynthia (John) South.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at WHITE FUNERAL HOME located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave. (45th Ave.) Griffith with Pastor Bill Jones officiating.

Kyra retired as a bookkeeper from Leonard’s Furniture. She was an avid champion golfer at Sherwood Golf Course and Wicker Park. She enjoyed her time gardening and attending garden walks with her friends. She also relished her time with the “The Stitchers” knitting club.

Kyra loved the Town of Griffith and was a part of the Welcome Wagon in the 1970’s through the 1980’s. It was especially important to Kyra that all her family and friends “cherish our shared moments through the pictures and above all thanks for the memories!”

Kyra will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
