Karen Sharp-Frangis passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving and devoted mother, stepmother, grandmother, and a very faithful friend. She had a sharp mind and strong opinions, but always had a ready smile and absolutely loved to laugh.
Karen enjoyed cooking for her family, mixed a great drink (and an even better Blizzard when she became the owner of the Cedar Lake DQ on the lake). You could always count on her for a funny story or a good joke. She always talked endlessly about her family – she loved them immensely and was so proud of them. Karen loved to have a good time, but she was always available with a sympathetic ear or helping hand when needed. She was strong, loyal, and had an enormous capacity to love.
She is loved by so many who will miss her more than words can say. Her love and wonderful memories will continue to always surround and comfort her family. In one of our last conversations with her, she mentioned how important it is to love and help others in life. So in lieu of flowers, her family requests that you please donate to St. Jude House (her favorite charity) or your church, or in honor of her love of Christmas, fulfill a wish on an Angel Tree this year.
There will be a celebration of life at First United Methodist Church (352 S. Main St.) in Crown Point on Sept 7th. Visitation will be from 10-11am, with the service immediately following.
