Jon F. Griffiths

Jon F. Griffiths, age 85, of Merrillville, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

He is survived by his children; Robert (Chris) Griffiths, Debra (Chuck) Blount, and Cynthia (Partner; Dawn Edwards) Millian, step-son; Donald A. (Lorri) Neeley, grandchildren; Heather (Jim) Sweeney, Bobby Griffiths, Tabitha (Mike) Rice, Eric Hughes, Jeremy Millian, Jamie Millian, Sarah and Aubree Blount, Bethanie Winget, Dakotah (Lauren) Blount, and Travis (Ashley) Blount, step-grandchildren; Jamie (Kris) Sopel, Jessica (David) Berube, and Jonathan Neeley, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, half-sisters; Nina Crowley, Becky, Nancy Webb, Almadale, and half-brothers; Justin Melot.

Jon was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Sharon Griffiths, parents Robert Griffiths and Jane Wiggington, grandparents Fred and Tuberia Ruchti, and four legged companion, Gracie.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 beginning at 12 NOON at WHITE FUNERAL HOME located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave. (45th Ave.) Griffith. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery located in Elwood, Illinois.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 NOON at White Funeral Home.

Jon was an Army Veteran and was retired from American Bridge. Jon enjoyed spending his time fishing, bowling, cooking, and being a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.  Jon loved to garden and enjoyed eating the vegetables from his garden. He was known for his loaded homemade pizzas and his homemade popcorn that he would take on the family outings to the local Drive-In. Jon spent his younger years in Michigan, spending time with his cousins and grandparents. In the last few years of Jon’s life, he touched a lot of people, and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
