James A. Reitz, age 62, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Lee Ann, children; James (Alyssa) Reitz, Julie (Bill) Smith, stepsons; Anthony Swadlo, Joseph (Katt) Cram, step-daughter-in-law, Gwen Garro (fiancé Andrew Cifuentes), grandchildren; Michael, Macy, and Jacob Reitz, Emily Ramirez, Andrew, Ryan, Evan, Nathan, and Nicholas Starkey, Gaius Gerro, Alden Gerro, mother, Judith Reitz, and siblings; Jay (Kim) Reitz, Joel Reitz, and John (Karen) Reitz.
James was preceded in death by his father, James N. Reitz and stepson, Travis Swadlo.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2nd, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave., Griffith, followed by a Masonic Service at 6:30 and then family and friends to speak beginning at 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home.
James was a Mechanic for the Chicago Auto Auction. James had a deep love for music and was a huge family man, he enjoyed researching the family tree and the heritage that made up the Reitz family. James carried the titles Father and Grandfather very proudly. James was also a Free Mason, and that was something that was always important to him.
