Iris Nereida (Menendez) Medellin

Iris Nereida Medellin, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Genaro Medellin; her children: Carmen(Mario), Cynthia, Emanuel(Jacqueline), Crissy(Todd), and Gina (Joe); her siblings: Anibal(Sharon), Ovidio Jr.(Cynthia), and Wilma; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Iris is preceded in death by her parents, Ovidio Menendez and Catalina Colón.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park Av. (45th Ave.) Griffith, with Fr. Charles Niblick, officiating. Cremation will follow the services.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, April 17th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home.

Iris was born in New York City and raised in Gary, Indiana, where she eventually made Griffith her home for over 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and one of the best friends anyone could ask for. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to making others laugh, teaching valuable life lessons, and showing everyone what it means to have a good time. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a fresh set of nails, a new hairdo, and most importantly, having her home full of family and friends. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As her journey came to an end, let us continue to remember the love and happiness she brought into our lives, the countless cherished memories we have because of her, and the extraordinary impact she had on us all.
