Helen (Pantazis) Neil

Helen Neil age 88 passed away peacefully with her family at her side Wednesday, October 27th, 2021. She was born January 10th, 1933 in East Chicago, Indiana. She was the daughter of John and Despina Pantazis. Helen was raised in the harbor area of East Chicago. Helen worked many places throughout her life including working at American Steel Foundry and Kast Armor during the war years. She worked at Carpenters local 599 Credit Union as an administrator and later Franklin Elementary School where all 4 of her children had attended as an office assistant. Helen married Harold Neil in 1956 and they were inseparable until Harold passed away in 2015. Together they raised four children in Griffith, Indiana. Helen loved spending time with her family and many local friends. She had a love for all animals but she dearly loved her pets Peggy, Swamp, Rocky and Missy most of all. She was amazed by nature in general and loved watching the leaves change every Fall. Helen also had great love for the Arts and music, attending many events at Griffith Central Park over the years. Helen especially enjoyed her monthly outings with her high school lunch club for more than 20 years. Helen is survived by her daughter Laura Loudenber and husband Scott, her son Tom Neil and his wife Patty and her beloved grandchildren Sarah and Kevin. She was preceded in death by her sister Esther Wanieck, husband Harold Neil and beloved sons Jim and John Neil. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Meals On Wheels of Northwest Indiana.

Friends may meet with the family on November 4th, 2021 from 3-6pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. Glen Park Avenue (45th Avenue).
