Harry G. Harretos, age 82, of Griffith passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Paula; children: David (Tara) Harretos, Melissa (Tom) Ogrentz; grandson Drew Ogrentz and one on the way; brother Michael (Patricia) Harretos; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends; and by his four-legged companion Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Mabel, and by his brother Dino.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 5:00 PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana 46319 with Brandon Galambos officiating. Cremation will follow.
Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at White Funeral Home in Griffith. A Military Honors Ceremony will take place at 4:00 PM.
Harry was an Army Veteran who proudly served his country in Vietnam.
He was a proud graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1960. He was a retired member of Laborers’ Local 41 for over 50 years. Harry was a huge fan of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and Griffith High School Panther Football.
During his retirement, Harry was a former coach with the Griffith Little League and Babe Ruth. Harry worked Security at Ameristar Casino and as a Griffith Code Enforcement Officer.
Harry especially loved talking to people. He will be truly missed by everyone who met him.
