Gordon L. Stamper Sr.

Gordon L. Stamper Sr., age 85, of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

He is survived by his son, Gordon Lee, daughter-in-law, Heather Marie Stamper (nee Granzow), along with multiple nieces and nephews, including Edward and Rebecca Christy of Valparaiso.

Gordon was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Joy Stamper, in 2017, and mother Lois Rogers and stepfather, William Rogers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, beginning at 12 NOON at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave. (45th Ave.) Griffith.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at White Funeral Home.

Gordon worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 18 years and for EJ&E Railroad in various management and yard positions for 44 years, before his retirement in 2000.

Gordon was an U.S. Army Veteran (1960-1962), stationed primarily in Mount Clemens, MI. Gordon was the Co-Director of Children’s Church and Board Member at Portage Assembly of God, Sunday School Superintendent at Lake Station Assembly of God, Sports Booster Director for Portage Christian School from 1983 to 1985, and Athletic Director with Family Christian Academy from 1985 to 1987.
