Frederick E. Schmidt III

Frederick E. Schmidt III age 64 of Dyer, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Frederick is survived by his wife of 15 years Gina; stepchildren Michael (Fiancé Bryzy) Cook, Samantha (Michael) Stalnaker, Rachel Cook, and Niko (Katie) Cook; grandchildren Madison and Logan Stalnaker; siblings Kelly (Craig) Poerio, Janet Reinke, Beth (Peter Frigo) Schmidt, Karen (John) Stalmack; nieces and nephews Abigail, Joanna, Dennis, Jillian, Kelly (Tom) Lee, Joshua, Michael, and Aaron. He is also survived by his four-legged companions Diesel and Grim. Frederick is preceded in death by his parents Fredrick and Beverly, brother David, nephew Alex, and four-legged companions Aero and Beau.

Frederick is retired from the Operating Engineers Union Local #150. He was a member of the CRS motorcycle group. Frederick loved riding one of his Harleys, watching and attending Nascar races, football games, especially his beloved “Da Bears,” and spending as much time as he could with his family and friends.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a ride!”
