Elizabeth "Betty" Vivirito Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Vivirito (nee Flynn) October 2, 1933 - May 22, 2024

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Flynn) Vivirito, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024. Born on October 2, 1933, to Grattan and Catherine Flynn, Betty lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.

Betty was the devoted wife of the late Frank Vivirito, with whom she shared 69 wonderful years of marriage, 66 of those years on earth together. Together, they built a loving family, including their children: Paul (late Julie) Vivirito, Mary Kay Vivirito, Diane (Dan) Colpo, Dave Vivirito, Don (Wendy) Vivirito, and Michael Vivirito. She was the cherished grandmother of Tiffany (Matt) Kless, Ryan Vivirito, David Colpo, and Tori Vivirito, and the adored great-grandmother of Aiden, Connor, and Riley Kless.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Grattan and Catherine, and her siblings Helen (George) Hamilton, Jack (Vicky) Flynn, Virginia Flynn, Tom (Betty) Flynn, and Dan (Rita) Flynn.

A devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Griffith for over 60 years, Betty was deeply involved in her faith community. She served as a lector, commentator, eucharistic minister, and CCD teacher, and contributed her time to the Western Days festival and various other church organizations. Her unwavering faith led her to attend Mass daily, reflecting her deep spiritual commitment.

Betty worked as a cashier and in customer service at Stack & Van Til for over 20 years, where she was known for her warm smile and friendly demeanor. At home, she pursued her passion for baking, running a personal bakery out of her house, delighting family and friends with her famous homemade bread and rolls, nut rolls, brownies, peanut butter balls, and chocolate chip cookies.

An avid seamstress, Betty created many of her own clothes as well as clothes for her children and grandchildren. She shared the art of sewing with her granddaughters Tiffany and Tori. She also found time for her daily swims at Omni 41.  She cherished spending time with her family, siblings, and friends, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter.

Betty's life was a testament to hard work, faith, and unconditional love. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community leave a legacy that will never be forgotten.
