Edward F. “Turtle” Gniadek Jr., age79, of Griffith, Indiana passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Christine; his children: Edward Frank (Sherrie) Gniadek, Lisa Drwal, Joseph (Mandy) Gniadek, Nicholas (Laura) Gniadek, Peter (Raine) Gniadek; grandchildren: Eric (fiancé Megan), Jessie, JR (Gabby), Meghan (Shane), Noah, Mason, Owen, Gavin, Abbey, Reese and Uriah; great-grandchildren: Ty, Cianna, James, Olivia, Mason, Quinn, Cash, and Sloan; sister-in-law Leslie Merrick; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Sr. and Genevieve Gniadek and his sister and brother-in-law June and Dick Komovich; and brothers-in-law Ron and Al.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 525 N. Broad St. Griffith, Indiana with Father Keith Virus celebrating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Indiana. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana.
Edward was a Vietnam Army Veteran, 1st Infantry Division. He retired from CLM Services. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Men’s Club.
Edward was also a member of VFW Post 9982; American Legion Post 66; Izaak Walton League and the Lake County Agriculture Society.
He enjoyed muzzleloading, fishing, hunting, and working in his garage.
