David Allen Elea

David A. Elea, age 84, of Gary, passed away on Friday, January 10th, 2025.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra, children; David Elea Jr., Mark (Patricia) Elea, Paul (Mari) Elea, Chuck (Arlene) Elea, grandchildren; Stephanie, Blake, Cameron, Carly, Landen, Nicole, Joshua, Jonathan, Nia, Darrell Jr., Brandon, Austin, Olivia, Summer, numerous great-grandchildren, and sister, Debra Ard.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Family Christian Center, located at 340 45th St. in Munster, with Pastor Steve Munsey officiating.

Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Family Christian Center.

David retired from the railroad in 2002 and went on to putting in over 20 years, as a volunteer, with Operation Care.

David was an avid deer hunter, but also a big family man, who enjoyed his time with his children and grandchildren. David was a long-time active member at Family Christian Center, throughout the years, serving as an usher and playing different roles in the yearly Passion Play.

David also coached Little League in Black Oak. Carrying the title of “Coach Dave.”

David will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
