Dakota D. Stevens

Dakota D. Stevens age 27 of Gary, Indiana passed away on Tuesday September 14, 2021. He is survived by his son Dakota Levi Stevens and his daughter Nora Stevens; father George (Michelle) Stevens; his mother Tonya; sisters Harmony (John) Harris, Tabatha Stevens, Kayla (Mark) Knuth, Erikka (Joe) Sipos, Taylor (Justin) Barham, Cheyenne Stevens, Shawna (Clint) Stooksbury; brother Casey Stevens; uncle Thomas (Marsha) Sutton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Pete and Norma Stevens and maternal grandparents Thomas and Jackie Sutton, and by his uncle Robert Stevens. 

Every since Dakota was a child he enjoyed working with his hands. He could sit and build things with his legos for hours. He especially loved to take things apart and put them back together to see how they worked. He was very proud of an old riding lawn mower that he completely refurbished as a young teen with the help of a special friend who lived around the corner from him. 

Dakota wasn’t always the best at showing how much he loved his family but he showed his feelings the best that he could. He shared his love of taking things apart and rebuilding them with his son Levi, and passed down his passion for building things to his daughter Nora. He especially loved spending a day at the beach with his children. 

Friends may meet with the family on Thursday October 14, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Avenue in Griffith. Memorial services will be held on Thursday October 14 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating.

Dakota was a very special son, brother, father, nephew, grandson, and friend who touched the lives of many and will be missed deeply.
