Catherine A. Mills

CATHERINE ANN MILLS (nee Gnajek) of Griffith, age 79, passed away Sunday October 1, 2023.  She is survived by her five children: Monica Kliza of Griffith, Edward (Pam) Kliza of Portage, John (Val) Kliza of Santa Ana, CA, Thomas (Colleen) Kliza of Griffith, and Andrew Mills, of Schererville. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Faith Adams, Renee (Joshua) Lawrence, Joseph (Aisha) Kliza, Timothy Kliza, Russell Kliza, Elise Kliza, and Thomas Kliza. Also, she was survived by her sisters Mary Kliza of Wheatfield and Rose Marie (Michael) Taulia of Franklin, IN, and brother John Gnajek of Hammond; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park (45th) Ave. Griffith, Indiana. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St Mary Catholic Church, 525 N. Broad St., Griffith, Indiana, with Father Theodore Mens celebrating.

She retired from Walgreens, where she worked for many years managing their liquor department. Catherine was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She also served as a playground lady at St Mary’s School after her retirement, where she is undoubtedly well remembered by the children there. Catherine loved being outdoors, reading, watching scary movies, and spending time with her grandchildren.
