Barbara Jo Kern

Barbara Jo Kern of Griffith, Indiana age 79 passed away on Tuesday March 17, 2026.

She is survived by her brother Kenneth (Susan Ingersoll) Kern, nephew Joey Kern; godchild Krissy Plemons, Aunt Arlene Kern, several cousins and second cousins, many good friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Kern, sister Linda Kern.

Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday June 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church located at 525 N. Broad Street, Griffith, Indiana. Friends and family may meet with the family at 9:30 a.m. before mass in front of church.

Celebration of Life Reception will follow services.

Barbara worked and retired from C.N.A Insurance Company and was the manager of her department. She also worked as a car-hop when she was in high school.  Barbara graduated from Morton High School and trained in Chicago IL. with C.N.A management. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
