TYRUS J. HAMMOND "TY" GRIFFITH, IN Tyrus J. Hammond, age 61 of Griffith, passed away May 4, 2011. Beloved husband of Esther (nee Sendejas); loving father of Danny Hammond and Veronica (Randy) Horka; proud grandfather of Maddux and Madelyn Horka. Preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Louise. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the White Funeral Home with Fr. Stephen Kosinski officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Ave., Griffith, IN. Ty was a proud veteran of the 5th Air Cavalry that fought heroically during the Vietnam War. After retiring from Inland Steel and Beisen Excavating in Griffith, Ty spent his days as "Papa" to the joys of his life, his grandchildren.
