Susan "Sue" Kay Stout age 67 of Highland, on the morning of Friday, November 13, 2015 passed away after a short battle with cancer; while being attended by the caring nurses and doctors of the Oncology and ICU units at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. Susan Stout was born on September 30, 1948 and was a resident of Highland Indiana for 45 years. Sue received her nursing degree from Purdue University Calumet in 1989 and continued her education earning her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Sue started her nursing career at the University of Chicago Hospital working Intensive Care Neuro and Cardiac. Sue recently retired from Community Hospital in Munster, IN in 2013 where she worked on the CVU Unit and most recently the GI Lab. Sue loved her children and grandchildren so very much and was always there for them no matter what. She cherished her friends and those friends closest to her became part of her family. Sue enjoyed meeting out with her friends over a good meal, having many laughs and great conversations. She also adored her furry children as well. She loved her dogs "Her babies". Sue had a passion for showing her dogs in the ring. She was a member of the Lakeshore Kennel Club. When it was time to relax, Sue would escape in a good book and was an avid reader. Sue was the daughter of Morris W. Pratt and the Late Anna Kathleen (Shoemaker) Pratt. She is survived by her beloved husband George H. Stout Sr. Also survived by her children, Kathleen Stout Reed married to Rodney Reed, Michael Stout married to Becky Walker Stout, and Kevin Stout. She had two grandchildren Brianna K. Reed age 8 and Charlotte A. Stout age 5 months. She is also survived by her brother David Pratt, and many brother and sister-in-law's, Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all. She is also preceded in death by her oldest son, George H. Stout Jr. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 10:00am at White Funeral Home with Pastor Shawn Cornett officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, November 17th from 3:00pm-8:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W.45th Avenue in Griffith.
