Ruth H. Blount, a kind and gentle lady, age 79 passed from this life to her eternal home on Thursday, October 9, 2014.

Ruth was born on July 16, 1935 to Alma and William Rohde in Hammond, Indiana.

She was educated in the Hammond School System, attending Morton Jr. High and graduating from Hammond Tech in 1953.

Ruth was employed by Great Lakes Mortgage Company and The Town of Griffith.  After seventeen years, she retired from The Town of Griffith, having served under four elected Town Clerk Treasurers.  On August 18, 1956 she married John Blount whom she had known since kindergarten.  Their marriage of 58 years produced three children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband, John, children: David (Robin) Blount, Scott (Kathleen) Blount, and Kay (Bob) Orzechowicz, grandchildren: Carrie, Jill, Kurt, Danny, Mark, Jack, Molly and Brian,  great grandchildren: Aislyne, Clare, Emma, Brettelynn, brother, Don (Wanda) Rohde, sister-in-laws: Eileen Blount, Lorraine Hopp, Geri Burton, Marijane (Larry) Penman, brother-in-law, Daniel (Bonnie) Blount, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alma and William, infant grandson Thomas Blount, and her parents-in-law, George H. and Mabel Blount, and many other family members.
