Robert M. Stas age 87 of Griffith, IN passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his devoted family.

He is survived by his five children: Margaret (Robert) Clark of Mason, Ohio, Diane (Joseph) Rossi of Griffith, IN, Robert (Elizabeth) Stas of Orland Park, IL, Carol Stas-Solis of Griffith, IN, John (JoAnne) Stas of Griffith, IN. 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Brother: Michael (Ruth) Stas of Lancaster, PA.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret Stas, son Michael P. Stas, daughter Sharon Telfer, two grandsons Shaun Flaherty and Michael P. Stas II and sister Margaret Gault.

Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 3-8:00 pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Avenue Griffith.  Prayer service will be at 7:30 pm.

Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Home on  Friday October 14, 2016 at 9:30 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church located at 525 N. Broad Street Griffith with Father Theodore Mens celebrating.

Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Schererville, IN.

Robert retired after 30 years with the Griffith Public Schools. He was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humor. He will be fondly remembered by many.
