Robert W. Huffman, age 85 of Highland passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia (nee Parker), children: Steven R. (Robyn) Huffman, David N. Huffman and Brenda (Michael) Burns.  Grandchildren: Rachel and Karl Burns, sister-in-law: Marie Huffman.

Preceded in death by his parents: Perley and Elvia Huffman, brothers: Bertram J. and Clifford R.  Huffman.

Per Robert's wishes he will be cremated and services will be private. Inurnment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

Robert was born in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas on July 2, 1929.  He grew up on an Army Base in  Ft. Slocum, New York and graduated from New Rochelle High School where he was an outstanding athlete.  He was Navy Veteran who served on the USS Gilbert Islands for three and a half years during the Korean Conflict.

Robert retired from LTV Steel in the Galvanize Dept. after 32 years of service.  He loved to travel and visited much of the United States, Nova Scotia, Yucatan and Hawaii.

He was a fan of the New York Giants, New York Rangers, Indiana University basketball but he was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.

Memorial donations can be made to the Hospices of the Calumet Area.
