Rex Harper Jr., of DeMotte, formerly of Gary, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory, including his children, Rex (Willie Jackson) Harper III, Harlen (Michelle) Harper, Mary (Shane) Plott, Gerald Harper, and Tabbitha (Matt) Kuhn. He was a proud grandfather to Sherry, Timothy, Joey, Anna, Cali, and Little Willie. Rex is also survived by his beloved life companion, Sherry Lane, and his siblings; Nancy (Alan) Brouzaitis, Kevin (Betty) Harper, Sam (Kim) Harper, Gilbert (Polly) Harper, Roxann Harper, Joanna (Steve) Hilliker, and Doug Harper. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Rex Sr. and Maudie Harper, and little brother Ritchie.

A graduate of Calumet High School, Rex was a former employee of Midwest Pipe Coating Company. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, and creating many memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

In accordance with his wishes, private family services will be held.

Rex will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
