Rex I. Harper age 81 of Gary, passed away on Thursday may 1, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Maudie; children Nancy (Alan) Brazaitis, Rex (Sherry) Harper Jr., Kevin (Betty) Harper, Sam (Kim) Harper, Gilbert (Polly) Harper, Doug (Fiance'e Barb) Harper, Roxanna (Annette) Harper, and JoAnna (Stephen) Hilliker; 30 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 7 sisters, and by his 3 brothers.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents James and Dovie Harper, son Richie, great granddaughter Rachel, 2 sisters, and by his brother.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at 10:00am at White Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday May 5 ^th from 4-8:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45 ^th Ave. in Griffith.

Rex was a Korean War Navy Veteran and member of Griffith American Legion Post 66. He was retired from Inland Steel and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Hammond. Rex enjoyed Hunting, fishing, and working on cars.
