Ray G. Williams, age 90 of Highland, IN. passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jean and children: Dr. John (Debby) Williams of Rushville, IN., Susan (Mark) Drapac of Munster, and Nancy (late Gregory) Brown of Highland; grandchildren: Sarah (Dr. Chris) King, John Williams, Jr., Nick (Erin) Williams, Jeff Williams, Michael (Natalie) Drapac, Matthew Drapac, Kim Drapac; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Annie, Henry, Jackson, Brock, and Emma as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Williams; parents-in-law, Eber and Mildred Smith, siblings: Earl Williams and Eleanor Davis.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church located at 6021 Hohman Ave., Hammond with Reverend Linda Skaggs officiating. Cremation will follow services.
Friends may meet with the family on Friday, April 25 th from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45 th Ave. Griffith, IN. Visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral services (12:00-1:00).
Ray was a decorated WWII Army Veteran who belonged to the American Legion Post 369 and was recognized for his service by the WWII Honor Flight. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Hammond. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Ray retired from the School City of Hammond after 36 years of teaching and coaching at Clark High School. He was an avid pool player and die-hard Cubs fan.
