Obituary

Maxine Scurtu (nee Detterline)age 84 of DeMotte, formerly of Griffith, passed away on Tuesday July 30, 2013

She is survived by her two daughters: Michele (Bill) Ostrowski and Denise Scurtu; seven grandchildren: Tammy Taylor, Shawn (Michelle) Hilgert, Ryan (Patti) Hilgert, Shannon (Jason) Berrisford, Lori Cooper, Courtney Ostrowski, and Bridget (Lee) Tillema; 12 great grandchildren: Sean, Logan, Aubrey, Abby, Landon, Lilly Ann, Hailey, Brooke, Anthony, John, Dylan, and Cassidy; sister, Beverly Guiden; sister-in-law, Lucille Detterline; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Scurtu; son, Thomas Scurtu; grandson, Kevin Hilgert; great granddaughter, Katie Cooper; four brothers: Al, Bob, Russell, and Roger; and by her sister, Dolores De Rosa.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6 th at 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 525 N. Broad St. in Griffith with Fr. Theodore Mens officiating.

Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville

Friends may meet with the family on Monday, August 5 th from 2:00pm-8:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Avenue Griffith.

Maxine was a loving Mom, and had unconditional love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Cubs fan. Maxine also worked for the Lake County Assessor's Office, sold Real-Estate, and retired from Montgomery Ward after 20 years of service.
