Maryellen Katherine Koonce-Rodney "The Babygirl" age 36 passed away unexpectedly and went home to be in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her best friend Shannon on March 21, 2021.

Maryellen was a graduate of Morton Sr. High School and a formerly a resident of Hammond, Indiana. She never met a stranger and became friends instantly with everyone she met which made her love for working in hospitality perfect. Mary loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed singing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Mary was a loving wife to Sean Rodney, daughter of Howard Koonce, Sr., and Nancy Koonce. Daughter-in-law of Jay (Kathy) Rodney and Kay Rodney, sister of JR (Heidi) Koonce, Chrissy Swafford, Judi Koonce and Jordan (Laura) Koonce. Sister-in-law to Brian (Michaela) Rodney. Loving bonus mom to Kimmy Rodney and her four fur babies Lily, Buddy, Ramsey, and Bleu. She took pride in her role as a God mother and loved being called MayMay by Travis, Trevor, and Grace. She was very loved by several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her grandparents Willard and LaVerna Koonce and Philip and Helen Probus, Sr., and her fur baby Little Bit.

Family and friends are invited on Wednesday March 31, 2021 to White Funeral Home, 921 W. 45th Avenue, Griffith, Indiana for Visitation at 2:00p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Services will be co-officiated by her father, Howard Koonce, Sr., and Fred Rhoten.
