Mary E. VanHorssen age 70 of Griffith passed away on Wednesday August 7, 2013

She is survived by her husband of 43 years William "Bill"; children: Elene (Ray) Kuhns, Don (Carolyn) Muskin, Angie Muskin, George VanHorssen , Garret VanHorssen (Fiance' Teresa Lopez), Joe (Jennifer) VanHorssen, and Pete VanHorssen; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers: Calvin (Alma) Penrod, and Daniel (Jenny) Penrod.

She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Julia Penrod; sisters; Josephine, Eva June, Verida, Delores, Regina, and Alice;and by her grandchildren Nathan and Samantha.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00am at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Avenue in Griffith, with Rev. Jose Burgos officiating.

Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.

Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, August 11th from 3:00pm-8:00pm at White Funeral Home.

Mary VanHorssen was a long time Griffith resident. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, a graduate of IUN school of Nursing, and she was retired from Hospice of the Calumet Area. Mary Co-organized the Griffith War Memorial extension at Central Park, and she volunteered with numerous other Griffith Organizations and committees.
