Mary Pacurar Malick, age 89, of Schererville (formerly of East Chicago and Griffith), passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018.  She is survived by her children: Greg (Alice) Malick, Dawn (Gary) Borella, Mary (Barry) Haddon; grandchildren Samantha and Kara Borella, Edward and Brittney Malick; Daughter-in-law Jennifer Malick; Brother John Pacurar.  She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Edward G. Malick, son Brian Malick, parents Daniel and Katie Pacurar; sisters: Kathryn (James) Barbar, Eleanor (Andrew) Kendall, brothers: Daniel Pacurar and Charles (Patricia) Pacurar.

Funeral services will be held on Friday January 19, 2018 at 10:00am DIRECTLY at Descent of the Holy Ghost Orthodox Church located at 750 West 61st Ave. in Merrillville, Indiana with Fr. Alin Munteanu celebrating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Indiana. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday January 18th from 4-8:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Ave. in Griffith.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Lake County and a 1945 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School.  Mary and her husband raised their family in Griffith where Mary had been active in the Griffith Women's Club as well as Tri-Kappa Sorority; she enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling, gardening, and was an avid bridge player.  She spent many years working as a bookkeeping/accounting/tax preparer.  When Mary retired, her utmost joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She opened her home to family and friends, always having a hot pot of coffee and food on hand.   She'll be remembered for her generosity, kind heart, and warm smile.
