Mary Elizabeth (née Landis) Williams, 68, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2017, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the home of her son. She is survived by her four children, Alan (Shana) Williams, of Washington, D.C., Greg (Rachel) Williams, of Lafayette, Timothy (Mary Jane) Williams, and Rachel (Zane) Bousum, both of Indianapolis; her sister, Cathy (Curt) Mitchell, of Clarksville, Missouri; and eight grandchildren, Jude, Sage, Isaac, Caleb, Oliver, Josiah, Audrey, and Michaela. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Billy Williams; her parents, J.R. and Louise Landis, of Hannibal, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Drew and Noelle Bousum.

Friends may meet with the family on Friday, February 3, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45th Place, Griffith, Indiana. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00am until time of service at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, at 11:00am at The King's Community Church, 600 W. 162nd St., South Holland, Illinois with Pastor Pete Tassio officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, February 7, at Spirit of Life Church, 3737 N. Raceway Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Raised on the Landis family farm outside of Hannibal, Missouri, Mary attended Cottey and Quincy Colleges and graduated from the University of Missouri. She taught high school math in Bowling Green, Missouri, from 1970-74 and then graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she met Billy. Together they pastored in Hammond from 1978 to 1991. Mary was a math teacher at Gavit from 1987-89, Lew Wallace in Gary from 1989-90, and Eggers from 1990-2004. After retiring, she and Billy traveled to Mexico and India to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Until Billy's death, Mary and Billy also ministered in Cook County Jail and other prisons, where they were much beloved among the inmates. Mary loved being surrounded by her family and spending time with her grandchildren. All who knew her will miss her kindness, patient listening and excellent (and sometimes pointed) counsel.
