Marjorie R. White 82 of Portage entered into her heavenly rest on Sunday, August 3, 2014. She was born May 4, 1932 in Mayfield, KY. To James Harold and Audrey Mae (Vincent) Coleman. On July 11, 1953 she married Marvin R. White in East St. Louis, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2001.
Marjorie was a woman of many talents, especially sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was a seamstress throughout her life. Marge was a school bus driver for Merrillville and Crown Point Community Schools in the late 1960s and 1970s.
She was an active church member most of her life. She attended Grace Church of the Nazarene in Portage. Prior to that, she was active in Southlake Church of the Nazarene, Lowell Church of the Nazarene and Merrillville (Independence Hill) Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by one son Robert Paul (Mary) White of Griffith, and two daughters Ruth (Rev. Robert) Raschka of LaPorte and Catherine "Buttons" (James) Gordon of Valparaiso, eleven grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Dr. William Coleman of Greensboro, North Carolina as well as many nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law.
A service of resurrection will be held at the White Funeral Home and Cremation Services 921 W. 45 th Ave. Griffith, IN. on Thursday August 7 th at 10:00 am with Pastor Ron Richmond officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday August 6 th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will follow, Maplewood Memorial Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.
