Maria A. Scheeringa, age 84, of Merritt Island, Florida, formerly of Hammond, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Maria is survived by her children: Conrad (Debbie) Heisner, Donna (Jeff) Perkins, Marijo (Bruce) Wilson-Sayre, and Jon (Michelle) Heisner; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Violet Hosszu; brothers, Joseph, Dennis, Charles, and Steve; and sister, Violet.

Maria enjoyed spending time and doing things with her family.

Inurnment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Indiana.
