Kenneth D. "Porky" Helderman. age 56 of Griffith passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014.  He was born on April 25, 1958 to the late Hubert and Doris (Sage) Helderman.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia (nee Young), children: Kenneth "Austin" and Kendra Helderman, sisters: Evelyn Sage and Margie (John) Hollifield; brothers: Herbert (Betty) Helderman; brothers in law; Raymond, Bobby and Billy (Jenny) Young; sisters in law: Gail (John) Reato, Carolyn Cruz, and Mary O'Brien.  He is also survived by his aunt: Judy (Bob) Phillippe, Godson: John Anthony Reato, many nieces, nephews, cousins and by his beloved four legged companions: Bullmastiff Angel and Victorian Bulldog Melanee.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00AM at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. 45 ^th Avenue, Griffith with Ken Weldon officiating.

Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.

Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, November 8 ^th from 9:00AM until the time of services at White Funeral Home.

Kenny graduated from Lake Central High School in 1977.  He worked at Blah Knox, and Copeland. He became a truck driver in 1993 and worked as a union truck driver for locals 142 and 731. He was a volunteer firemen for the New Elliott Fire Department, Cub Scout leader for Pack 532, assistant Boy Scout leader for Pack 504, 25+ years member of Izaak Walton and volunteered every Friday to work their bingo.

Kenny loved his family and was one of the greatest Dad's that never missed a single event with his children.  He loved taking his four legged companions for rides and ice cream every Thursday.  He loved to hunt, fish, watching NASCAR and Colts football.

He will be missed by all, and may all his good deeds and his soul rest in peace eternal. Those who knew his family and friends said, "they broke the mold when he was born!"
