Julia VanDerNoord, age 92 of Griffith passed away Monday, May 27, 2013. She is survived by her children: Gary (Carol) VanDerNoord of Highland and Nancy (Terry) Burbridge of Highland; grandchildren: Carey (Carla) VanDerNoord, Jennifer (Joseph) Jasiak, Betsy (Daniel) Quasney, Lee (Sallie) Krooswyk, Lon (Laurie) Krooswyk, Kathryn (Larry) Carter, and Raymond Stoll; 27 great grandchildren; brother, Ron (Sylvia) Scheeringa; sister, Thelma Brown; brother-in-law, Garrett Huitsing; sister-in-law, Maria Scheeringa; brother-in-law, Edward (Phyllis) VanDerNoord; sisters-in-law: Grace Horgeshimer and Elaine Reitveld. Preceded in death by her parents: Harm and Tena Scheeringa; husband, Gerrit "Harry" VanDerNoord; siblings: Grace, Jeanette, Herman and Anthony. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church,8411 Columbia Avenue Munster, IN with Rev. Richard Bawinkal officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Trinity Reformed Church. Julia was a very active charter member of Trinity Reformed Church in Munster, serving in numerous committees and ladies dart ball league. She was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Area.
