Juanita A. Mendiola, affectionately known as "Grandma Jenny," age 78 of Gary, Indiana passed away surrounded by the love of her family on March 28th, 2026.

Juanita was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her children, Maria C. Montalvo, Violet Mendiola, Tomas Mendiola, Michael Acevez, and Yvette (James) Ford. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth, Antonio, Andrea, Damien, Lexus, Marcelo, and Yasmin, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Analicia, Avianna, Franky, Annabella, Riley, Adelayza, and Emily Grace.

She is further survived by her siblings, Alex (Monique) Aleman, Fernando (Sylvia) Aleman, Morris (Maria) Aleman, and Mary Aleman, along with many extended family members and loved ones.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Magdeleno and Jovita Aleman,  her siblings, Lupe Aleman, Francisco Aleman, Tony Aleman, Ricardo Aleman, and Miguel Aleman.

She will be remembered for her loving nature and the joy she found in crocheting, traveling, and gardening. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

Friends may meet with the family on Thursday April 2nd, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home (921 W. Glen Park Ave. Griffith, IN, 46319).

Funeral services will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Father Theodore Mens officiating at White Funeral Home.
