Joan B. Thompson age 74 of Griffith, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 at her home from complications of lung disease.

She is survived by her children Christopher & Kara Thompson (Mahan), Robert Thompson, Edward & Suzanne Thompson (Fraszczak) and David Thompson

Grandchildren Bonne Thompson, Katy Thompson, Robert Thompson Jr., Emily Thompson, Paige Thompson

Great grandchildren Violet Wilson and Daisy Wilson, many nieces and nephews.

Also by her siblings Richard & Cheryl Franks (Relinski)

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Thompson and siblings Robert Franks and Wayne Franks, and grandson Coty Thompson

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 10 ^th from  7:00pm at White Funeral Home located at 921 W. 45 ^th Avenue Griffith, Indiana with Pastor Geraldine Colvin of Unity Church officiating.

Friends may meet with the family on Friday, July 10 ^th from 3:00pm until time of service at White Funeral Home.

Joan was born May 3, 1941, in Hammond Indiana, and lived in northwest Indiana her entire life. She graduated from Morton High School in 1959, and received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Purdue University, Calumet Campus. She worked as a case worker for the state of Indiana welfare department for 22 years before her retirement in 2007. Joan loved reading books, cooking, gardening and attending concerts performed by the community band; in which her son David was a percussionist.
