Jean A. Williams, age 97, of Highland, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. She is survived by her children: Dr. John (Debby) Williams, Susan (Mark) Drapac, and Nancy Brown; grandchildren: Michael (Natalie) Drapac, Sarah (Dr. Chris) King, John (Amber Sherrick) Williams Jr., Nick (Erin) Williams, Matthew Drapac, Jeff (Ally) Williams, and Kim (Jason) Falls; great grandchildren: Tyler Drapac, Kaelyn Falls, Deegan Falls, Annie Drapac, Raegan Falls, Jackson Williams, Henry Drapac, Emma King, Brock Williams, Brogan Falls, Rachel King, Lincoln Williams, and Audra King; sister-in-law Bonnie Smith; many nieces and nephews; and her caregivers: Virgilija, Heidi, Ula, Margarita, Beverly, and Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eber and Mildred Smith; her husband Ray; son-in-law Gregory Brown; brothers Richard and Donald Smith; sister-in-law Donna Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 6021 Hohman Ave, Hammond, IN 46320 with Pastor Linda Skaggs officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 Noon. Inurnment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Dekalb, Illinois at a later date.
Jean was a retired elementary school teacher with the School City of Hammond, teaching primarily at Riley School. She was a longtime, very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hammond. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school as well as presenting the Children's Sermons.
Jean was also a member of the P.E.O. Chapter AP of Hammond, where she served as past president.
She enjoyed gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan!
